Description
The story of the Children of Lir tells of Lir’s new wife, Aoife, becoming jealous of his perpetual love for his four children – Fionnuala, Aodh, Fiachra and Conn. This lead Aoife to cast a spell that turned them into four white swans; this would last 900 years. They spent the first 300 years on Lake Derravaragh, the next 300 on the Sea of Moyle and the final 300 on the isle of Inis Glora.
